Sculpture
December 26, 2022
Wandering the city streets, I became captivated by the presence of the homeless—figures both seen and unseen, moving between survival and solitude. One detail stood out: their hands. Scarred, calloused, and worn by hardship, these hands told stories of resilience, struggle, and survival.
I recreated these hands in sculpture—some clenched, others open, as if reaching for something beyond their grasp. Placed within a glass enclosure, they became symbols of both confinement and quiet defiance. This work is not just about homelessness; it is about the tension between isolation and humanity, about seeing the overlooked and understanding their world through the hands that shape it.
